Aerial LiDAR Survey

Aerial LiDAR surveys map large areas of land covered with dense vegetation to capture the bare-earth surface beneath.

The LiDAR pulses penetrate the vegetation to map the underlying terrain and produce a Digital Terrain Model (DTM). This survey is often used to assess land affected by landslides, erosion, or ground movement that can impact projects and pose safety risks.

Aerial LiDAR surveys are frequently combined with a Aerial ortho-photogrammetry survey to show the tops of vegetation relative to the ground surface below, providing a complete view of both terrain and its surface features.

Surveys are carried out using the DJI M400 UAV equipped with a DJI L3 LiDAR, with ground control points installed before each survey to ensure the data is fully georeferenced.
